One of my favorite seasons to photograph is winter, because everything becomes simpler, monochromatic. This is a series of images inspired by the great masters of Haiku poetry (Matsuo Basho, Issa… )
” Winter solitude—
In a world of one color
The sound of wind.” (Basho)
As poet Octavio Paz famously said: “I do not see with my eyes: the words are my eyes” (Paz, 1990)
Here are a few words that could describe the images: subtlety, simplicity, quiet moments, silence of the trees, purity, white spaces, low contrast, fog, atmospheric, minimalism. All photos were taken during winter of 2019 in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.
